I am a Seattle DUI attorney. I opened my own firm less than a year ago. I knew from the very beginning that you don’t have a law firm if you don’t have clients. So, I started looking at the way to get clients. The yellow pages were clearly out. They are the dinosaur of marketing. Then I looked toward the internet. It looked like a great place to start.

After all, my typical client hasn’t needed me before. There is not much of a way to get out in front of potential Seattle DUI clients. Most people don’t want to talk to me until they find themselves starting a DUI charge in the face. And most people don’t know a DUI attorney socially (even though there are a lot of us). So, most people turn to friends and family, and a lot of people look toward the internet.

There are a couple of different ways to get internet exposure for your law firm or small business. The first, and the easiest, is with google adwords. These are the ads that you see on the google search results at the top and down the side of the page. All you have to do is pay a little bit of money and you can have your information posted on the first page of the search results. Are they effective, though? It remains to be seen.

The next, and much harder way, to get on the internet, is to begin what is called a search engine optimization campaign. This is basically doing whatever it takes to get Google to like your site enough to put it on the first page of Google. This includes great content, links, and good on-site optimization. This takes a lot of time, but can pay off handsomely.

The last way to get on the first page of google is to get into the google local search results. You just claim your listing, talk about what you do, and if it’s good enough, Google will list you on the first page right up at the top. This is cheap and effective, but there’s a lot of competition for this.

It’s usually best to try to incorporate all three of these methods into your marketing campaign. That will give you the best chance to get the most clients possible. You can be the busiest DUI lawyer without spending much money at all.
